We're a group of local people working together to create more spaces for people to come together in Wallingford.
"We believe the spaces and places that define our town should benefit the people who live here - and that we should have a key role in owning and managing them."
As a Community Land Trust (CLT), we bring people together to support community-led projects, create community spaces and affordable homes, and with the objective of caring for what makes Wallingford special for generations to come.
It means a community organisation that takes ownership of buildings and spaces so that they can serve local people, rather than falling into the hands of developers. It means homes that stay affordable. And it means decisions made in this community, by this community - not by distant developers.
It’s a business, not a charity – one that’s designed to generate income and operate sustainably and independently. The difference is what happens to the profits: rather than flowing to shareholders, every surplus is reinvested into the Trust’s work in Wallingford, creating jobs, improving services and enabling future community investment. Together we build something that can stand on its own and keep improving over time.
Wallingford Community Land Trust is here to help ensure that local people can continue to live, work and thrive here - now and in the future.
Wallingford is a historic market town with a strong sense of identity, community and place. But a changing retail landscape, pressures on local facilities and growing demands on infrastructure mean many local people and community groups and organisations are finding their needs unmet.
We want to help change that.
Our vision is for a Wallingford where:
Community spaces are in community hands
Community and volunteer groups have the space they need to thrive
Young people and families can put down roots
Older residents can stay connected to the community
Local people can afford to live locally
Our high street is varied and vibrant
Wallingford Community Land Trust has grown out of years of local conversations, collaboration and community action across the Wallingford area.
We were established in 2022, as OX10 Community Centre Limited, by local residents with a simple but powerful idea: an accessible place that people could use. A hub where people could meet, learn, collaborate and support one another.
Our vision is a Wallingford where community spaces are in community hands, where young people and families can put down roots, where older residents stay connected and supported, where local people can afford to live locally, and where the decisions that shape our town are made by the people who actually live here.
Since 2022, we’ve helped bring together people interested in sustainability, wellbeing, local democracy, youth provision and community ownership. Events, partnerships and public conversations have highlighted both the strength of local energy and a growing need for long-term solutions that keep Wallingford inclusive and accessible for future generations.
Wallingford Community Land Trust is the next step in that journey: building on the foundations of community-led action to explore how land, housing and local assets can be protected and stewarded for the long-term benefit of local residents.
